Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello MPC community – I have over longer time been looking for the sequencer that would fit for my setup. It’s not easy because the market is huge and there any many paths to walk. For me it’s very important that my sequencer is portable, because I’m planning to use it for live performance and Akai MPC-500 seems very fine in that case, but I have some questions before I can decide if MPC-500 should be my sequencer.

This is how I want the MPC-500 to be in a chain for live performance situation:
Drummachine (Midi-clock)>Akai MPC-500(midi-out)>midi-thru-box >Synth1, Synth2, Synth3, Synth 4

1. Question: How many midi volt does Akai Mpc-500 send out? Is It 5 volt or 3 volt – if 5 then I can midi power the “midi-thru-box” if 3, then I have to chain the instruments directly.
2. Question: How many sequencer tracks can I make? Example if one of the 4 synths are multitimbral.
3. Question: Is it possible to midi-clock Akai mpc-500 from a drummachine?

Note: The reason why I have choose a midi-truh-box is to reduce midi-latancy.

This is not how I want to record my midi notes at home – then I had the idea of:
Drummachine/midi-keyboard > Midi-interface(midi-in) > PC (DAW) > Midi-interface (out/in) > Akai MPC-500.

4. Question: Is there a smarter way to set this up – example using the USB directly with the PC (DAW)? (If that’s possible)
5. Which DAW (digital audio workstation), would be best for this setup?
Note: I want to record with a DAW that has piano-roll! (so no trackers please!)

I’m looking forward for some helpful answers ;)

Kind regards
