Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello to all,
I've been lurking here for the last couple of weeks reading up on the 500 and finally signed up today. I'm currently trying to sell some gear to go towards funding an mpc 500 and I have a few questions about the 500. I've been intending on buying one to use primarily for live gig finger drumming to use alongside an SP 404 and playing with a band (guitar. bass, synth, mc, singer and me).
I was wondering if anyone here uses one, primarily live and for finger drumming and do you think it's up to the job?

I've watched a lot of those videos already. I was more concerned as to how they hold up after a lot of pad beating over a long time of gigging and whether any of the build quality issues are true or not. I figured here was the best place to ask, maybe not.

Now let's not get butt hurt. We're simple folk and a little more in your first post would have helped us get to what you actually wanted to know.

In summary. The 500 can be finger drummed with. It's built like a tank so would stand up to your gigging (with in reason of course). The pads as standard aren't great, I and many others have sought alternative solutions to improve their sensitivity - chiefly MPC-stuff.com's fat pads or Cork -type material with the original pads.

But like anything, if you use this incessantly for long periods, parts might need replacing.

Now hurry up and buy it and post a video of what you learnt to do with it

Welcome to the forums strayfield. The 500 can certainly be used for finger drumming, but personally I've experienced issues with pad sensitivity over the years and would really recommend a more robust MPC for live drumming work, such as the 2500, 1000 (with pad upgrade), or 2000/XL etc.

BTW, no one meant any harm from their comments - your first post wasn't specific so I can see why they provided the youtube links.
