So my MPC 500 seems to have some unique characteristics, and it has its flaws, the midi input seems to be shit, but I've noticed that occasionally when I'm in the record screen, going to in from recording a sample that the bit rate changes on its own. Now I've never owned a 12 bit machine myself, but have used the 12 bit reduction on the MPC 1000, and this sounds similar. The Hi frequencies sound a bit brighter, and the lows a bit crunchier. Anyone else experience this. I have some examples in my archives I'll look for later and post, so you can all hear what I'm talking about, if your interested, I'll post these later.

Hmm that's weird, the sample rate is definitely lower on the "12 bit one" and it sounds like the noise floor is higher as well... You can hear it on those claps pretty clearly. Granted I'm on my iPad, but I can still hear a difference plain as day.

I'm a new user of the MPC500, but I would suggest checking the FX part (mode 9 > effect)

Sometimes Fxs get stuck on the pads (pad numbers) of different tracks if they are not turned off. The FX thru FX 2 function could be as well.
