MPC 500 WONT WORK CF CARD

So after a while not touching the sampler which never has had any problem working won't load the cf card. basic samples from the hard drive do load with autoload when starting up so i know all the other technics are fine and when i remove the cf card looks like it never had a problem

but when i insert the cf card and try to handle data on it in anyway, or won't even get there, but to the menu save/load/delete/format cf card it allows me to scroll the options for about 2 seconds but then freezes up. i don't know what to do and i don't know wether the problem is the cheap memory card or the sampler itself.

i have already booted it and I'm currently looking for a way to install the new os (thank u apple, its not as easy as it seems) maybe that could help

if any of u know what it is or could be, please gimme a hand

my guess is that you are using either a very big, or very fast memory card.

my mpc works fine with cards from 16M - 256M but i tried it with a 2GB card and it does something similar to yours.

try using older/smaller cards and see if they work.

I have maybe similar problem. I bought 2GB CF card Verbatim, but when I insert it into my mpc500 and press any button, nothing happens.
Impossible to format, load, set, ... No reactions.
Can be the problem the same?

There was an issue a few years back of the 500 unable to read cf cards. Solution was to format on an MPC1000 then it'll function in the 500. Akai finally addressed the problem with OS 1.31. Upgrade your OS.

excactly 2GB Verbatim, i never really gave the cf card a second thought since i bought this second hand and it was working for about a year on me... now its stood for almost a year until a month back and its doing this.

The memory card capacity might be a problem as i do have a lot of data on it anyway and since it used to work.

Also upgrading the OS seems like a solution, i just have to find a way to save the upgrade file on the cf card
