Hi,
I have just picked up a "used only once" MPC500 with the Akai 128 RAM today for 240 Euros. I'm very happy with this as I have the original box and the user manual as well. The box is also in mint condition and the manual was never taken out of the sealed bag.
I was doubious about getting the 500 because quite frankly it has been kinda slagged off and dismissed by so many people as a toy and just made out of plastic.
I would like to say I think the build quality is spot on for such a small unit, it feels solid and like a proper instrument should feel.
I got the 500 to use for live gigs as a phrase sampler to fire off my trademark UK Garage vocal stabs. I didn't want to get a Roland SP404 or SP505 because I think the FX are a bit cheesy for vocals.
