I would have went nuts if I got an MPC at 15, I had to wait until I was twice that age to get one.
He'll have a blast with it I'm sure. 8)

I didn't even know what an MPC was at 15...so I would have sold it and bought a few skateboards.

i didn't know about mpcs back then. when i was 15 (i'm 21 now) i was all about bragging about using acid 2.0 baby or 3.0 i forget at that point. so psyched about it, i insisted that it could do everything that ANYTHING else could do - not just talking about sampelrs but guitars, pianos, etc...

stupid, i know, but it was my pride speaking up because i hated how everyone else in my high school looked down on "computer made up music" as if the computer did everything for you.

I did get my first drum machine about 15, it was a Boss DR-110.
So If I could have afforded an MPC 60 or SP 1200 back then I would have been all over it.
I knew about the 1200 and what it did, just could never get the money up to get one.
I think the 500 will be perfect for todays 15 year old up and coming producers.

if you wanna lay down ideas go for the mpc 500 if you wanna let your creativity lead you go for the 404.

sounds like you should get the 404 and just use it with the 2500 when not on the road. From what I hear, the 404 and a mpc make a good combo because of the filters on the 404
