need help with drums

okay im new to the mpc so when im working on a track laying the kick and the snare how come they don't playback with the same feel and groove that i am hitting the pads with. its hard to explain in words but im sure u guys know what i mean. how can i get the real time effect out of my kicks and snares. if i hit the kick twice and the snare once it comes out sounding off or delayed and if i try to double up on a snare to make it hit with that tat,tat sound it comes out as tat tat meaning the samples sound spaced apart. help me out how can i get the swiss beats feel going.
