Autoload/long sample

Hi guys, I turned off Autoload but when I turned the MPC back on it loaded up all the samples. Tried this several times and it does the same every time. The reason I wanted to do that is because I want to record a very long sample(just over a minute) so there can't be any other samples loaded or else I won't have enough memory(16meg) to record a long sample. So I tried taking the CF card out. When I did that the Autoload actually didn't load so I had enough memory to record. The trouble was when I went to save the sample I couldn't, I guess because the CF card wasn't in. I thought maybe I could save to internal memory but it wouldn't let me.
I'm just wondering, if I put the cf card back in, is there a way to clear the internal memory without recording the sample first(because I won't have enough mem. to record it). I can't seem to find the solution if there is one.

From page 100 of the manual, where it discusses Autoload...
'Tip: When you insert the memory card which has an AUTOLOAD folder, into the card slot and switch on the MPC500, the MPC500 will
load the AUTOLOAD folder in the memory card automatically, regardless of the settings in the 'Autoload' field.'

From the Program Mode section of the MPC500 Parameter Map...

"Delete Program
Removes the selected program from memory. Press [DO IT] to execute.

Purge unused
Removes all samples not assigned to programs from memory. Pressing [DO IT] will open a confirmation page. Press [DO IT] again to confirm."

Doh! I completely missed that. Thanks. Man, you must know that manual inside out.

I did read that one but this is one of the examples where i find the manual to be not totally clear. When it says "memory" does it mean the internal memory or the cf memory card? I didn't want to delete anything from the card, only the internal memory.
There was actually something else on pg.98. The section on Loading a Program talked about the option to Clear Memory. I went with that one.

So, do you think Deleting a File is deleting it from the internal mem. or the cf card?

I thought that you wanted to sample something new into the MPC, and clear any samples already in memory to free up space for your new sample. Choosing to Clear Memory when loading a program doesn't really help, as you are probably loading samples with the program that you are loading.

When it is talking about memory, it is the internal memory, you delete any programs in memory, then delete all unused samples from memory(which should be any sample in memory, if there are no programs in memory).
