I saw a video a few months back of someone using an MPC 500 and i've wanted one ever since. I have no previous experience in sampling or beat making or anything at all, but I really want one, so I can learn because it looks like fun.
But before I went spending my money on something that I would regret, I have some questions. Please excuse my complete lack of knowledge on this.
1- All the sounds are created using only samples, right? Meaning, it does not come pre-loaded with any sounds?
2- How are the sampled sounds chopped? Is it done on the MPC or in some program included (or not included)?
3- On average, how long would it take a novice such as myself to gain enough knowledge to create a simple beat? Can the basics be learned within an hour?
I'm just a little intimidated by the product, and I fear that after a day or two I would get too frustrated with it and never touch it again. I'm the type of person to do that. Thankfully it seems to maintain a high resale vaule.
