Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

A few seconds ago I ordered my very first MPC! I was deciding between the 500 and 1000, but I ultimately settled for the 500, mainly due to the problems people seem to have with the pads, and because this is my first hardware sampler/sequencer ever and I just wanted something fairly cheap to learn with and whatever :).

I also bought a SanDisk 2GB Compact Flash card and 256MB of Kingston RAM, which I hope will fit (serialnumber KVR133X64SC3/256).

I guess there really wasn't a point with this thread, but they joy was so overwhelming I had to do something :D.

People here seem to be really friendly too, unlike some other places I've been looking for advise.

Hope to get to know all of you during my MPC quest :).

Thanks for the warm welcome :).

Now the hardest part is ahead, the waiting for the piece to arrive! Been reading the parameter map whenever I had the time today, will get to the reference manual as soon as possible!

While I'm posting, is it possible to automatically chop samples? Or is it a feature of the chop shop? Is there any chance the feature will be in a later OS update? Not that it's that important or anything, I just thought it could be nice if you have little time and just want to cook something up in a hurry :).

Okay, so I got my MPC today, been playing with it for a couple of hours. Never made any type of music or beats before. I think it's a great little machine! I have no problem whatsoever with the small display. Once you learn the menu system it's a breeze! Tomorrow it's back to reading the manual, got a couple of chapters left.

Is this okay for the first attempt ever at beatmaking?

Please don't bee to harsh on me :(. I know the mixing is probably almost idiotic and there is no bassline, but I'm quite happy with it, for a first try.

2GB memory card and 256MB RAM arrives tomorrow, yeeh! :)

Couldn't be happier! LOVE IT!
