samples cut off when new samples recorded on separate track

someone said aboput this before. im recording and i can play loads of samples together but then i will come to add just 1 new one in and it will cut out one of the previously recorded samples around half way through. is this just a dodgy unit or can it be cured?

This is the polyphony acting up on you. The mpc 500 can only handle 32 voices at the same time. Stereo samples take up two voices. Phrase samples eat away at voices too. You need to do the math. Or more chopping.

I never had this problem with my 1000 or 2000xl and my composing hasn't changed much since so I'm frustrated with this shit too, reducing me from using loops to just doing beats without even a bassline.

I'm close to buying a 500, but this seems like a real issue. I wasn't expecting to be able to use massive orchestral multi samples but not being able to program both beats & basslines is a bit weak.

What are others peoples opinion/experience on this?

i cant have my kick and bass in your face , like i used to on the 2kxl or on ableton live.

Does this also happen when you are tracking out your beat? When you track out your beat, don't you just play back one track at a time into the DAW? So if you spread the samples over enough this shouldn't appear in the finished beat.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd to know if it also happens when you are tracking out. I may also have misunderstood the concept of "tracking out". I'm still real new to this production stuff!
