Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I JUST got off the phone with a rep for platinum-records.com. I saw their ad and it said "CRAZY DEAL MPC500 CALL NOW" so I called. She said it goes for $699, but was dropping to $599 soon. I asked how soon, and she said she couldn't say. Still, there's hope, right?

I ordered by phone, I called them about the open box one, and the guy told me there may be a problem with it and offered a new one for 599, saying that's the new price.
Maybe they have to wait for the official word to update the site ?

Yeah, I think the sale is trickling down slowly. I e-mailed Akai asking for confirmation but have not gotten a reply. I figure when I'm going to buy one after the new year, I should be able to get one off Ebay no problem for under 500 bucks.

In fact, I saw a 500 yesterday on eBay for $400, but it had a 7 day warranty. No thanks! I want that 1yr Akai warranty, thank you very much!

I was thinking about buying an mpc500
When they came out(in the Netherlands), they were 600 euros.
Now the price has dropped a 100 euros!!
Isn't this a bit quick, knowing Akai?

It's because of the oil prices
