Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Greetings Experts

sorry to post a question that may already be answered, but I am unable to to find this information

I am simply trying to understand (for ex) what the MPC500 will do>

I need to replace an Emu Command Sttion, which is a hell of a box but built with parts that do not hold up

What I am looking for is a machine (small) that will hold drum. bass and synth sounds, has a sequencer that goes beyond Step, and has on/off toggle buttons for each track (channel) for DUB-style use

thanks! I appreciate all input

best wishes

Sounds like you're describing the 500 right there. There is a track mute mode (which is what I use to build up a song in layers or parts and track solo mode that will both do what you were describing.) The sequencer is nice once you get the hang of it and the MPC will hold any sound that you record, load or resample into it. Oh, and the MPC 500 is definitely portable, you shouldn't worry about that. Just get the RAM upgrade (which I still need to get) to maximize it.
