Some quick questions about TRACK MUTE function and Sequencing in general.

If I have 3 programs in a project:

1. Drums (with drum samples)
2. Brass (Horns and whatnot)
3. Bubble (just weird random sounds)

Now, how do I go and assign and record the samples from the program to to a track, and then do it again in the next sequence? Am I literally supposed to Record the Kick on A1-Track01, the Snare on A2-Track02, and so on? Does Pad 1 correspond to Track 1? This whole thing gets more confusing the more I try to do it the "right way." I just need a few pointers, or if it's absolutely necessary, I guess I can go and get that tutorial online. Either way, I want to figure this out before I go back to software again. (Fork That!!) A little help please........???

I'm not quite sure I understood your question(s), but I'll give it a go:

I find it most practical to record everything to track 1 to begin with, then use SEQ EDIT -> MOVE EVENTS to move the snare to track 2, hihats to track 3, etc. to facilitate (un)muting/soloing.

So, what you're saying is make the entire sequence as I would like it to be on Track 1, and then move each of the events onto another track? Now, would it make sense to have all of those samples in one program and just use the 4 Pad Banks and assigning the same program to each track, or keep it the way I have it with the 3 programs, assigning those programs to those tracks? I know it sounds confusing, but it sure is confusing to me.

i usually do my kick and snare on one track, then my hihats on another then other weird percussion on another.

ie.

track 1. sample melody
track 2. kick snare
track 3. hi hats
track 4. bell

right, but what I'm saying is (excuse my ignorance - 1st MPC - self-taught), do I make the sequence 1st, and then break down each element/instrument/pad into different tracks? I don't know if this makes sense, but it's better than a thread titled "HELP!!! How Do I Make A Beat??" which, surprisingly, will get more replies. [/b][/i] :?
