Just when I thought it was all over.....

I now have the same error messages on my replacement MPC500 that I had before. If you sit around and make simple beats all day, you would never encounter the problem of losing your beats. I just lost a real banger today that I worked on for 4 days. I was just about to record it, as I had finished the beat earlier in the day and had saved it before shutting off the unit. I'm returning it and getting my money back.

I used to lose beats, but it hasn't done it for a while so I stopped worrying about it. Now I'm working on a tight beat and it's been on for a few days and I just saved it for the 1st time after I read that. Thanks for the heads up, I would've been pissed.
Sucks that you lost your beat. What are you buying to replace the 500?

Well, I just called Akai today. They won't give me my money back. And I can't get my money back from Same Day Music because I already got a replacement machine from Akai. Some of the samples I was using on this particular project were dug up from free sample sites. I was told that it's a good chance that some of these samples may be corrupted files, which is why I am getting error messages. But the programs and samples load up fine. It was the "All sequences and songs" that would not load. I don't see what sequence data has to do with sample data, but who knows?! So I told them that I will start another project not using any samples from online. If the problem still exists, they said to try using a different brand of CF card
(I use Toshiba). If I still have problems after all of this, then I can go ahead and send it back. I have a case # now, too. I would opt for the repair instead of the replacement next time (if the need exists), because it seems that ALL MPC 500's that roll off the assembly line are prone to the same problems. What a nightmare!
