TRIM MODE QUESTION

On the mpc 1000 and other models you can load a sample into a pad
than go to TRIM MODE you can than chop the sample into as many peices as you choose and asign those chops to pads automatically.

is this possible on the 500? of course i have tried to search this topic and of course figure it out on my own but no luck.....

is it me or does it seem like there are less options in TRIM MODE on the mpc 500? am i snoozing on something?

im starting to feel like i should have just ivested a little more dough for a 2000 or different model

I confirm man... If what your are interested in is 'automatic chopping' then you should have invested more...
But why do you want to use automatic features to produce music man? You would definitely obtain better results by manually chopping your samples (which is easy on the MPC 500).
You know, when buying a piano, you can pay more and have a really good electronic piano which is able to play prerecoded songs on its own... But that does not make you a great pianist...
I would recommend that you practice with your ears and chop with your own hands... sometimes, a little challenge is what makes you progress...

But, I'd guess there is NO WAY to AUTO CHOP samples on the 500. Chop them manually...That is the purpouse of the MPC....

and elgrego thanks for the reply....and i do actually use my ears to find the spots i want to chop up. But i wanted to do that in the mpc.

for example chop a sample and than play with the start and end points to catch the little spots i want. im not looking for an easy way to make a beat

it seemed to be a good idea for faster chopping. instead of using my pc to chop and than sample one by one in small peices

Chopping the samples manauly while ur not able 2 c what u chop is a good excercise for the ears. Try it that way a couple of months and you'll be suprised.

But you have the MPC 1k right? Chop it up on the 1k, save it on the CF card, and load the samples from the flash card in the 500.
Or chop it up on the pc and export them to ur 500 through USB.
