Yesterday, I purchased a 1GB CF card for my MPC500 so I could have more storage so when I got home I popped it in and formated it in the MPC. I then connected the USB cable from my MPC to my macbook to transfer the files I copied from the original CF card it shipped with as well as some Mellotron samples I got. This took forever (I think it's because it's USB 1.1 not 2.0) and after it completed I began loading samples to my hearts content!
This morning I get up to spend some time playing before work and when I go into the LOAD mode on my MPC all the folders for the Programs are out of order. I just assume it must be looking at the card differently or something but when I go to load a program the names become jiberish! Then all of a sudden the machine freezes and I can't do anything. I can't move to different modes, pages, or anything else! So I eject the CF card and all of a sudden the MPC is unfrozen again and I can navigate to different things. This makes me assume I have a bad card or the formating didn't work well the first time so I pop in the original CF card that ships with the MPC and the same thing starts to happen! So I try reformatting the CF card (which was difficult because it would freeze the moment I put the card back in and only a couple of times was I able to get it to function) and then use the disk utility on my macbook to check it and it says everything is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions or any ideas about what I can do? I need to contact tech support tomorrow but thought I would post here in case someone else is having the same issues.
P.S. I am running the most current OS.
