I'm beginning to think that if Akai could fix they might have done it by now...? Why don't they update the OS and get rid of the bugs? Are the hardware in all units really that cheap and faulty from the beginning?

I don't know, I know it sucks anyhow - there's not much you can buy and rely on these days, most stuff are really pressed on being as cheap as possible to build and as profitable to sell as possible...

I had this error too. It occurred when batteries in my MPC 500 turned weak and the Low Battery message appeared on the screen while I was transferring data via USB from my laptop to CF card in MPC. The data transfer then stalled as well. When I loaded the folder which I was transferring, it was OK. But then when I chose a sequence or a program to edit (I don't remember what exactly it was, it could have been a sample), I got this error message. I think it comes up when MPC tries to handle a corrupt data, damaged while saving or loading it. Unfortunately, there's no remedy to it, but to restart MPC by switching it off and then on again. And I don't think it is a bug or anything. BTW, do you eject the USB drive from your PC correctly after transferring data from PC to MPC and vice versa? It is well known that when you don't do it this way, the data on CF card could be damaged.
