Won't Stay Mounted When Connected Via USB

I've been trying to load some new samples and programs on my 500, but when I try and connect it to my comp, it doesn't work all of a sudden.

The problem started when I tried to delete a folder on my card, and then all of a sudden an error popped up saying it couldn't delete a file, then I noticed the device was no longer mounted. So I canceled the delete process and disconnected the MPC as it wasn't shown as a mounted device anymore.

When I tried to re-connect it, it would mount momentarily and then disconnect itself a few moments later. I tried re-formatting the card again, (mind you, this is a card I had been using all morning without a hitch), and tried connecting again, still same result. I tried popping in the 128mb "Sound Library" card, and that worked fine. Tried reformatting my other card again, still nothing.

I can't figure out what's wrong, any help?

1-try restarting the computer or mpc
2-check if usb cable is set firmly
3-does the card have a write protective switch? if so check that...

as to #1: I tried restarting the mpc several times, no difference. I'll try the computer in a little bit and post the results.

as to #2: I tried plugging it into various usb ports and still the same result, it worked fine with a different card.

as to #3: nope, no switch on either.

thanks for your suggestions, I'll try restarting my comp and i'll see what happens.

*edit* Restarting the comp did the trick, I wonder what happened though...

Ok, now it did it again as I was trying to copy my samples onto the card again. Mid-paste I got an error and the volume dismounted itself for no reason. The cord was definitely plugged in, I don't get why it's doing this. I wasn't even moving a massive set over, just 1 program at a time. Any help?

Maybe, it is time to replace batteries (if it's on batteries).

try updated or reinstalling the USB Drivers on the computer... Or maybe its a card issue... back up any files on the card

i noticed that as I tried it with yet another card, it said low battery as I tried to reconnect it one time, I'll try replacing them and see what happens.

*edit* i think a battery change did the trick, time to find an ac adapter...
