Just cuz your dumb and you figured out the 500 in a short amount of time it doesnt mean its for beginners.

i think it's good for both beginners and advanced users as well.

I didn't say it's for beginners, I was implying that it isn't rocket science.

It's an advanced machine with an "easy to use" interface. Go for it bro

I did a lot of reading up before ordering my MPC500 and the conclusion I came to was that it was advanced enough for me but also not too complex. So far I think I was right - I got my MPC500 today and I've had only a few problems (navigation based) that sent me to the instruction manual. As I delve into the machine more, this may change of course!

My first impression, above anything else, is that the thing is FUN. And I think that's how bits of music gear should be - fun. You just load up some sounds and bash away!

I am also impressed with how well made and sturdy the thing appears to be. The pictures on the Akai site don't do it justice.

Next, I want to integrate it into my existing setup and get into sampling my own sounds.

I just got my first ever mpc 500 delivered last week. I would reccommend it to you.

I am not very technical and have never used any mpc before i have been ,making beats with Reason 4, Ableton , Battery ect.

I bought an M audio Firewire 410 interface and a Stanton turntable and mixer from a mate and hooked up MPC 500 to it. I now record samples from vinly into Ableton - chop/slice import to MPC via USB and make my beats.

After a week or so of messing with the MPC and a good old read of the manual I have got to grips with the basics.

Would recommend it to you.!

make sure you get a power adapter with your 500. I was sold one "new" without it (luckily i got to exchange it for one with an adapter free of charge). Don't believe the hy... I mean lies.

You can get a refurbished 500 for $500 along with free loops from the Akai website.

or a 500 for 400$ or less on ebay the same way

i've had the mpc 2k, 2kxl, 1k, and now the 500- and i was definately suprised on how well the 500 works...i was expecting it to be more like a toy than a powerful sequencer/sampler and i was totally wrong..only things im still getting used to is the screen and sampling...all in all, its not a beginner MPC, its just the cheapest - believe me, you can make incredible music on this machine - its not what equipment you have, its who owns it.

i got my mpc 500 for $441 and that includes shipping, 128 memory upgrade, and 2 gig cf card on ebay...if you're interested in getting an MPC i would suggest going to guitar center and playing around on everything - see if its for you...but if you're wanting to make beats, mpc's are top of the line..

No complaints here! Beginner or advance...if you have a musical idea the 500 can help you accomplish it.

And really sayin its a beginner mpc is like sayin a laptop is a beginner pc and a desktop is advanced...now and days with technology you shouldn't judge by the size...size matters when your **** sumfin but in the technological world you can get your rocks off with the smallest of equipment.
