Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I got a USB cable to hook up my MPC to my PC but when i play the files i transfer, they have the wrong program. Do i need a midi cable?

.seq = akai sampler data only
.mid = universal seq data only
.wav = universal audio

how do i save something in wav. it only lets me pick seq. and mid.

the seq and mid files contain the internal sequencers data, which is sent to the sampler, which in turn makes the sounds, so the seq+mid files only contain info about whut pad got pressed where, how hard, and so on, and has nothing to do with the sounds themselves. when u transfer what im guessing is ur midi file to the computer for instance, and play it there, it sends the same data to its own "internal sampler" so to speak, and therefore ull prolly get godawful GM sounds, and probably the wrong notes and stuff aswell..
u have to either resample the whole song and then transfer the resulting .wav to ur computer, or record the audio outs of ur mpc in the audio recording software of ur choice on the puter.
