What happend to the art of diggin'?
Going for the fastest/ easiest option won't give u the best quality in the end.
I'd rather spend a half hour on diggin' for- and creatin' one single drumsound then just load up a reason re-fill drum

yea I went the whole sample pack route & must say I can never get a decent sound out of em... I def recommend making or sampling your own drums.

I don't get the whole "I can make a beat in 10 minutes crap" fux the rush? sampling is def a art, take time to discover new techniques & methods, put some heart in it... basically I'm not where I wanna be at makin beats...I kno mines aint all that ... but I'm striven, not lookin for the ez way

I go & play on a real drum set for hrs............... then iam goood 4 drums 4 bout a week

Feeling u dog. Fast workflow can be good for you if u work for a major top label, but it kills the art.

98% percent of the time i dig for drums to use. Its just a passion and a certain feeling that comes about, like many of you know when your hunting for the perfect sound.
Finding something usable on an otherwise garbage record gives quite a sensation too.

The only time when i dont use drum sounds that ive found off of records, is when i reference back to the 2K sounds disk that came with the machine.
They have all the basics on that disk, like an 808 bass drum, cowbell, tom etc...

Heres a cool little tip though, that ive been using lately.
Play around with the depth and time levels on your delay of choice.
Add some delay to your snare or whatever sound your using, although snares and hi-hats work the best for this effect.
Tweak the depth and time levels, keep the amounts small though..within a range of 15 to 20 and you'll achieve a Hall type reverb effect.
But i'd say its better sounding than a hall reverb, because it gives off a padded room real clean type ambience.

I'd say use this technique as an alternative to using real reverb, for a more subdued mellower type of sound

(Btw my little trick for not hardcore but chopped beats is to use reverb only on snares, so when samples are played across pads, whole sequence sounds better to me, definitely more dance, second steps enhaced
