I sold my 500 awhile back... It was dope. Well built machine.

The only thing I really miss from it is the portability. I loved going to school with my 500. I would sample some stuff in the morning before I took off to school and after some of my classes where I have a big break I would bust out the MP and start making beats. It was dope.

Am loving the 500 - am feeling so very 'zen' with it! The 'MPC concept' is so easy to get to grips with, and the unit itself is so easy to use.

Haven't tried sampling much yet; only been making sequences with the demo sounds. Am going to farm my (limited) vinyl collection later on for a few tasty samples, and get some loops going on.

thats exactly what's happening to me. my MPC500 is now the center of my studio, just like the MPC2000 has been for the last few years. now the 2K sits in the corner on a stand like it in a museum. there are things i miss about the 2000 (program changes were hella easy on the 2K, and wave editing was nice to have in the machine, especially cause i knew it so well). all in all, the 500 is a far superior machine. the footprint is ideal for my limited space and the portability pays for itself. that said, there is just something about my 2000 that wont let me get rid of it...

If the 500 could connect to an external multi out, it would be the end all be all.
But that wouldn't be zen for the rest of the mpc line.

i love the 500, i seriously do, and i can work extrememly quick on it, but i figure the workflow shouldn't get messed up to much if/when i move to a 1k. they seem to be the most similar MPC's

as someone who had an mpc 1000 with new pads, memory upgrade and jjos v1 I can tell you that I don't regret for a second selling it and buying a new mpc 500 with change to spare.

Sometimes its not all about technical specs - The portability of the mpc 500 makes is a fantastic machine. Yes I'd love to see a waveform on the screen but I can live without it.

I am a new user to the MPC500 but not a new user to MPC's in general.... of course I love my 60 but dammm this little baby is taken its place fast! I was actually saving money for a mv8800 but that deal didnt go.... spend the money on a laptop and a mpc 500 Best thing I ever did.

Still figuring out the basics.. Flipping through the manual.

Used to sampling with software.. FL studio (yeah yeah say what you want! hehe), but I'd much rather work with the MPC. Get a different feel from things. Get better timing, keep shit on beat and rely less on visual "rules" on sampling sounds.

Can't say yet if it's worth the buy but no matter what I think this lil' piece of hardware is money well spent and I'm sure I'll end up using it a hell of a lot more than my Audio M49 Midi Controller since I'm a sample head.

i've got a 4k, and it was a joy to grab a 500 for stage performance. it's def got alotta attention, and has so much power for being 1/2 the size of my dj mixer! i also love the ability to midi to my 4k, and expand my sampling power.
