Problem recording into my mpc

I hook up my record player, and I understand how to record and that, my problem is that when I completely plug in the left and right plugs into the input, no sound is registered from the record player..but if I put them halfway in kinda, it works, not well, but I can here the record playin thru the mpc

Is this just a problem with my actual mpc, like the inputs are broken, or has someone had this problem before, or does anyone have any other idea's?

Do you have a pre-amp anywhere in the chain?

U tryed other cables and plugs?

this! plus the preamp needs to be a phono preamp

Naw, no pre-amp, since your asking, Im assuming its absence is the reason I am having problems

Learn me a lesson, if I need one, whats a good one to get, and what cables and such will I need?

A phono preamp is needed to boost the signal from the TT. They are standard in all DJ Mixers, can be bought separately or are contained in old analog receivers.

You can spend the extra money on a DJ mixer and then also have a DJ Mixer, or you can get one of these: http://www.guitarcenter.com/BBE-FJB-200 ... 1155721.gc. Or go to a thrift store and get an old receiver with a phono in
