you know how you can trigger the startpoint of a sample with velocity on the 500 right, well is there a way to determine the exact start point you would like to attatch to a certain velocity or is it just a random startpoints that the mpc chooses for you?

thank you

"The larger you set the value, the longer it will take the sample to start as you hit the pad harder. If you set this field to 0, the sample start point is constant, regardless of the velocity." -User Manual page 78

So it's not really random, but it's not the most exact editing method either. You'll have to find the right balance between the value and velocity. Once you find the right combination you can manually enter that velocity in step edit mode to keep things exact.

really appreciate it ocular I never use step edit or grid edits for anything but you've opened my eyes to how they can be very useful in my workflow.
