Ram. Yes, I know there's a dedicated thread!

Hi all

I am trying to find the ram that is mentioned in the sticky at the top. I just cannot find the right thing.

Does anyone have a link to a 256mb ram board for the MPC500?

It's driving me nuts! I've tried googling by brand, spec and everything. They all say they have it and then upon looking more closely it turns out they have something similar instead. Not the board I was looking for in thefirst place.

I'm techy to a point but I'm a musician not an IT expert.

Please help!

Why so hostile?

I've read the sticky on this page about ram. I've tried to search for the spec of ram that's suggested. I can't find it? I'm asking for help.

I have read the manual and Akai only mention there own product?

If you have bought ram for your 500, can't you just tell me where you got it?

That's not much to ask is it?

Or am I missing something here?

That guide is on getting some cheap ram basically.

Akais ram is seriously overpriced. I made the mistake buying it with my MPC in the shop.

They are just saying that if you choose to buy non-Akai manufactured ram, buy 256.

I do remember reading somewhere about some of the types of ram that people have used that work with the MPC. If I find it again I'll edit it in here.

Well people have posted what types work. You should be able to find the exact same ram versions somewhere on the net.

Yes I know all about the prices and not to buy akai ram. I've read the sticky at the top of the page. I understand about buying 256mb and why to but it.

What I'm looking for is an actual link to somewhere that sells the right ram.

I cannot get it anywhere.

I have searched endlessly for the following spec;

PC 133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB

I've been to endless sites that claim to have it in stock only to find they have something similar and not the exact spec I'm looking for.

to be honest, i also had some diffculty in regards to the sticky and finding the right ram. Not wanting to take a risk on buying something that wouldnt work (and would be otherwise useless) i bought a stick from this guy

I do not mean to be hostile but all your question where typical RTFM questions. I got my mpc500 3 weeks ago or something now and till now I have been able to find everything in the manual!

^^ seems to me that he is just needing help looking for the RAM in a shop - or online. He has read the manual.

Get used to hostile replies round here - folk love to jump down peoples throats at the drop of a hat for some bizarre reason.

Anyway - I found mine on ebay - typed the specs you already listed and found a guy selling it - can't remember the name - it was ages ago.
