Wanna make the pads on my MPC500 softer.

So obviously the pads that AKAI has been throwing on their newer MPCs are NOTHING like the nice soft ones on the good ol' MPC2000XLs. Also it doesn't help that the MPC500 is made out of plastic unlike his "bigger brothers" like the 1000. Now I know there HAS to be a way to soften up the pads a bit, or replace them with softer ones. I heard boiling them might help. Any suggestions?

Im gonna boil them for now maybe dye em' (any suggestions, I know this ain't the custom thread) Im debating whether what im feelin is because of the pads or cuz its made out of plastic, and the "older brothers" are made out of metal.
