MPC 500 Drivers

Hey, so I'm trying to use the 500 as a midi controller in Reaper. But the DAW isn't recognizing it, nor is my computer. I'm pretty sure I need to install drivers so the MPC will be recognized.

Where do I find these drivers?

I've been looking everywhere. I've got a mac and I'm running the mpc through my M-audio interface. Thanks

Nope, no drivers, just midi that bad boy up to an interface and control it like that stinky.

The USB port can only be used to host the CF card and present it as a drive to the computer. No MIDI/Audio.

What exactly do you want Reaper to do with it?

I want reaper to recognize it as a midi controller, but the only thing that shows up in the list is my interface

The USB cable plugged from your computer to the MPC will not transfer an AUDIO signal or a MIDI signal.

you have to plug the midi cables from the MPC to your midi interface that is connected to your computer.

^^^Indeed. The USB is just for transferring files but no audio or MIDI capability. The only hardware truly capable of doing that is the SP-606 (slept on so hard ), that I know of.

lol i am well aware of the function of the USB as I am the MIDI cables.
This is what I'm doing:

MPC > midi cable > interface > CPU.

Reaper is not recognizing it. I've even gone into the mpc and switched to midi sync mode and such.

Have you set a track to output midi to a channel? By default this is off.

To channel 1 I set it

reaper(or any DAW) is only gonna recognize your audio interfaces midi input.. enable it and your mpc will transmit midi to reaper..

and how would I go about "enabling" my MPC

no youre not enabling your mpc..

in reaper Options>Preferences>Midi Devices.. right click on your interface and select Enable Input..



see where mine says Delta 1010.. yours should have your interface there.. im assuming your interface has midi inputs..

track----params-------track 1 midi channel -1(or whatever track#)----track 1- type midi(not drum)
