Graphic waveform

I've had the 500 for about a month now and love it. It doesnt compare to my other mpc's but it get's the job done. I was just wondering if they made a new os if they could put a graphic waveform editor in the box or if the lcd display isn't capable of handling that. Like I said the 500 is dope and i've created some real nice stuff on it, but chopping up samples by numbers takes way too long

I agree, and when I brought this up the other users told me to get use to it.

which I have, but still prefer to see some sort of chopping feature like my 2500

I don't think they could do a waveform on the little lcd but you never know.
If anyone does it , it wont be akai it will be the JJ's.

It's a character only LCD, so waveforms will not be possible

Chop in your computer...then load in your 500.

^^most def. I chop on my 2500 then load to the 500. In a push I chop on the 500, takes a little longer though.

The MPC60 and MPC3000 never had waveform displays, and some classic music's been made using those machines.

you could still code a shoddy lookin one with just characters for a basic understanding

anyway, hopefuly they'll do significant coding on the USB section of the os, ie so maybe USB can read the contents of your ram while power is on and in use.

this is probably not possible, but imagine the tweaking possibilities when you're at your DAW - sound forge working on a kick drum that you've got running in a seq? boost up the low end and add some saturation using dx plugins/save? boom, it's in there...

But, it's the 500, it probably wasn't intended to do the graphic thing.

and count in the Akai s950 and the s2000 as well. The list can go on, but y'all get the picture.

BTW, I've never had any problems working with either of those samplers. It's all in the ears.

this is like a convo btween a 10 yr old kid born in '96 who never heard of ATARI and a 40 year old who remembers cassette tapes and making tracks by choppin on breaks on turntables pre-affordable drum machine days. its funny.

my opinion dont mean shit (im in between generations...26) but i'll say ive chopped it up on mpc60's, sp1200's, 2000xl and the new 2500.

these new USB chord-having, compaq flash, chop function drum machines are WAAAAAY faster. it reminds me of that LEXUS commercial for them new cars that parallel park themselvses. its a new day...even mark the 45 king and jazzy jay's are makin beats on computers.

all im sayin is you may prefer the old...but understand why cats want graphic screens on the new..its STANDARD now. (humans get lazier..our machines smarter.....mpc 303050 to be released in the yr 2244 will dig records for you through an internal infinite sound library, chop up sounds, and program drums with the push of a button. all you'll have to do is name it. ha.)

and lampdog...ive never used the ASR10, my homeboy oddisee fcks with that as well as some other cats I know and they treat it like its GOD. I'll have to give the ASR10 and/or ASRX a try. (LCD screen or not)
