Would you cop a JJ OS for the 500 and what would it get you?

I would buy one even for a little more than what the JJ 1000 OS is selling for, considering the 500 user base is smaller. I could even imagine it being a full version only release with a price tag.

Considering the physical limitations, all I can see right now is the potential for a cleaner saving process. Honestly though it's more a curiousity issue than anything else.

same here its the only thing stoppin me from coppin a 500 is the headache of saving and not knowing if it got saved

Nope, don't care about an alternate OS... I don't even use the JJ OS on my MPC1000... since I don't use any of the functions that make it cool.

I chose no, just because I don't have any issuse with the saving process at all.....once you figure out how to save it really isn't hard at all. For some reason I just don't trust the JJ OS's but ultimately it would depend on what features the 500 JJ OS would offer(chop shop). The akai OS is cool, it just needs a little smoothing out the rough edges here and there.

maybe just sumthin you cant see but hear onnce its mapped out on the pgm, right?

I think it would be very possible. It could either be an auto-chop or a manual chop where the user determines how many chops he/she wants, basically just like the Mpc 2500 just without the waveform display it would use numbers instead. While in the "Chop mode" you would scroll through each chop and press any pad to hear the chops as you scroll through them then press do it and at this point decide if you want to save the chops to a new program or not. It wouldn't be that hard IMO.

I would love that chop feature, no doubt.

Slightly OT: why doesn't JJ roll with a translator, like Yao? Then we could hear him on these boards more frequent and in-depth.

If it offered multimode filter (preferrably two like on the 1000, but one would do), extra env and LFO, I would buy it in an instant!

(reliable saving and replacing wouldn't be too bad either... =) )

From the replies in this thread...it seems some of you should have just went with the 1000. Is that the case?

not if the 500 hardware can support these features. if this is the case (and historically, it is) then i say they should get everything any other recent machine has

however, the whole processor polyphony thing may be evidence enough that the 500 can't handle some more stuff. however, i'd bet a bone that the 500's processor could handle a couple more filters

I would love to be able to assign the Slider to other Parameters than just Filter and Tune; for example the release time (i love doing that on Hats-no prob on the 4000).
