Your SAVING method...

Since all people asking and worried about the saving process (like me)...
I just want to know your saving method to dont have doubts about "I loose my work"...

I think I save:
ALLSQ&SONG
Entire Project
Program
...

You do the same everytime you start a 'project'?

Could be a stupid thread... But I know theres alot of peepz searching for this!

I do something like this when I want to save a new song:

save all programs & sounds

'where do you want to save it in?'

new folder ( enter new name )
save

save all sequences & songs

save

keep that name the same as default, because every time you want to save all sequences & songs the default name will show up, no matter if you renamed the file. if I'm not the only one with this issue please let me know.

and I keep ofcourse backups on my PC

this is how I do this and I hope I helped you a little in the right direction.

You 'Replace' the samples everytime you save "that new project"?

No, when I save a project I first delete the old folder, put the cf card out ( I think this helps) then put the cf back in and save the project in a new folder.

the unit seems to have problems with replacing data when saving a project. but replacing works fine on saving 'all programs' & 'all seq'.

hm? how can u delete something from CF when he isnt inside the mpc... and knowing that we r workin on a project in CF?

when i had the 2000 xl i had this weird issue, where once i saved allseq and song, and all prog and sounds, id have to pull out the zip disk, if i left it in there while still working on the beat, the mpc would save some bogus all seq and song file, and then when id load it up the thing was corrupt.

I just save : ENTIRE MEMORY

on to a new folder for each beat I make

and then load folder once I want to load the project back

That's enough? (it saves the program, sequences, ...)

This works but is gonna fill your card up pretty quick, considering all the unnecesary doubles of samples this will create?

Also, veeery nasty...

I played around a bit yesterday.

Loaded a drumkit, made some beats

Loaded a single bass sample

Created a program of the sample.

Made a bassline on a separate track

Saved, using save entire memory (or what it's called, the one that makes a project file)

turned MPC of, and back on again a few hours later

loaded the project

No bassline. What??

The pad events were there, and the program was there. The sample, however, wasn't. That single sample was not saved in the folder containing the project, but the program using it (and the drum program, complete with all samples) was.

Seems like AKAI has some work to do... =/

I tried save entire project/memory (i dont remember too lol ) and it works perfectly.. ill see in the future.. but yeah.. we need a new OS. even thought if akai doenst make any other OS(sounds weird) we wait for anyone to fix that type of "Bugs".. JJ's?

Could you recreate this? I mean it could be some different circumstances or it could be that you perhaps missed something. I mess this up all the time. It's not about you. It's about me.

Well, tested to reproduce, and it didn't reproduce exactly...

This time, the project is not loadable at all...

One of the samples has just become "unknown file format". The kit is the 8 oh 8 kit from the akai library. And no, I did not replace any files, I saved to a new, empty folder...

This is pretty **** bad!

My 500 got in today. After a few hours no problems yet,...knock on wood. Just wanted to say thanks to all those who take time to answer questions.Good to know you folks are here if needed.
