I Cannot believe this!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my 4th mpc500 after returning faulty ones. Guitar Center got a new one in stock for me. Come home load up a cf card and Flash Rom write error appears on the screen Freezes the machine,. Yo i am heated this is the 4th damn 500 i got . Every single one had a different problem. Itsd like i am not meant to have this damn machine. And i really liked the 500.... Damn . The songs i am trying to work loaded up on the other 500's that i had to return cause one of the buttons was jammed. So i know it aint the cf card. This is mad frustrating and i feel really bad to have to keep returning it to guitar center again. But anyone ever see this error b4?? thanks

Yeah, but only when I was trying to load a sequence made completely in the 2500 with mixer settings and the individual outputs set. So basically I loaded up a sequence that the 500 couldn't handle due to it's lack of these mixer settings.

In your case I'm not sure what the problem could be...I know you said it's not the card but I would still try a different one or take the 500 back again, your bound to get a good one sooner or later after all you are the consumer you have the right to a product that works.Take advantage of the return policy untill your satisfied...if you have to, take the CF card in there with you.

yo thanks fellas--- i just got back from GC. They let me swap again for another one/ It was an open box unit and they let me test everything out there and it seems good!!!! phone outputs sound good-no hiss!!! buttons intact and no flash errors. Man this is the only machine i would go insane like this for because i really enjoy using the 500. I dont know what it is but i like the flow of it. Any other type of sampler i would have been so fed up and just took my money back, but i gotta give the 500 a chance cause i really do love it. Yo fellas, thanks again. And if anyone buys a 500 and has trouble like this hold out for a good one. Make sure u hear no high pitched type of hiss in the headphone outs. I think akai let some bad apples out the factory,. You sure had some bad luck with them, good to see you got one that (hopefully) works OK.

I'm glad you got a good one, most people wouldn't even bother returning it that many times (just get their money back after about 2 returns).
It would just leave a bad tatse in their mouth for the 500, Props to you for doing that until you got the right one.
Mine works great, I'm glad I didn't run into those probs.

yeah that last one i had returned yesterday was really messed up. Just by turning off the autoload it would say "Flash Rom write error" . That unit was really screwed up. But so far so good with my new 500. Everything seems to work like it is suppose to. Question, should i download os1.11 for it ?? i am alittle worried since things are going well so far.

I was in the same place you are about two months ago..I couldn't decide if I wanted to stay with the original OS or download 1.11. Since then I have downloaded 1.11 even though I didn't have any problems with the original OS ...I figured that I may as well do it to fix any bugs that may be waiting to spring up on me. It fixes the delaly or reverb (I can't remember which one) slightly and also addresses some polyphony issuses as well so I would assume it's the better OS to use but in all honestly I haven't noticed any difference between 1.11 and the orignal OS .

Go to http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.php#MPC500 and read the "release notes" for the latest OS(v 1.11) everything that the newest OS fixes including the polyphony issuses I'm speaking about are discribed in those notes. It doesn't seem that it was that big of an issuse....but then again anytime you can't get the max polyphony out of your Mpc it is a big thing.....anyway just check it out for yourself.
