Selling mpc 500

Selling it.

Don't like it. Low output was last straw.

Anyone else given up with it yet?

You can adjust the output level on the 'other' page.

Mode/ Program (pad 6)/ scroll to Sample Level and you can bring that specific sample up to 100
also
Mode/ Trim (pad 5)/ Scroll to Edit:Select/ Cursor over to Select and change it to Normalize. and you can Normalize that specific sample.

Is this really why you're selling the 500?

I could sell it because...

- The polyphony sucks
- It needs more/better filters
- It crashes sometimes
- The delay has too much feedback even at low settings
- Akai should make a beter O.S. for it

But not for the output level

Yeah I sold mine. It just wasn't cuttin' the mustard. After working on the larger mpc's the workflow of the 500 was reminiscent of running a race with a broken toe. IMO. Plus I have no need for 2 mpc's, the 2500 is all I need.

How much you selling it for? I live in the UK.

I've given thought to getting rid of mine in order to get a bigger MPC.

This is my first MPC, and I am loving it. I really like being able to take it places and run it off the battery.

I'm scared to get a bigger MPC. The reason is because if I do I might not want to use the 500 ever again.

I think if I learn the 500 inside and out before I step up to a larger MPC I will be better off. Stepping backwards when using anything is tough.

So far the MPC500 has been a huge leap forward for me.

But still, I have 30 more days to return it if I need to and step up to something different.


/damn my impulsiveness... damn you MPC500....

Oh I'm not hating on the 500, I think it's good for what it does. Those of you who choose to use the 500 as your main mpc/sequence, more power to you. Like I said before after working on the 2500 the 500 feels so limited but don't get me wrong, if it's all I had I would definitely use it.

I hooked up my old Ensoniq synth to my MPC last night and used it as a sequencer for the first time. I was throwing my head back and laughing at what I was able to do.

I'm desperately trying to resist the urge to gear whore out and sell my motorcycle just to get a 2500. I have very little gadget tolerance. I'm the type of idiot who stands in line for Xbox 360's and Wii's.


Then I just think about what happened after I got my 500. Learning the workflow of the MPC stopped my production in its tracks for a good week or two while I figured it out.

Funny I sold my motorcycle for my 2500 and that's the dead truth LOL (2002 honda shadow 750cc) nice bike but I'll get a sports bike next time a CBR or something

As a sequencer it's fine. 48 tracks are more than enough. The step edit is the same as the old Roger Linn MPC's, just how I like it Time correcting is just the same as the 1000 and 2500 as far as I know. You can get more intricate with it by turning it off or doubling the tempo. The tuning and duration can easily be adjusted per event, copying bars or parts is simple... etc, etc.

sorry to bring up a month old topic.. but yeah im actually thinkin about trading my 500 for a 1000. i only bought the 500 for its 'portability' but a battery powered mpc isnt as necessary as i thought it would be for me

btw, if anyone is looking to have a 500 and has a 1000 to trade. let me know
