Add suggestions for the next O.S. update here

hey everybody,

since chances are obviously small to ever get a JJ for the five hunnid i thought we could gather our (realistic) ideas of what could be added or done better with the next version of the AKAI OS. maybe somebody at akai reads this stuff on here.... if there's already a thread like that please somebody point me to it.

Here's my first suggestion:

The possibility to apply the sliders function to a whole program, not just pads. As an example, it would be excellent for live-use to be able to filter a bunch of samples at the same time while playing them.

i will put some serious money on the assertion there will never be another mpc500 os update

nawww come on, they're not Steinberg. they HAVE to do an update.

suggestion 2: 'Loop On'-ability for One Shot samples!

I don't think that Akai will ever release an OS update including new interesting features... I woud rather pray for a JJ OS...

But in any case, I would love to have a kind of simplified Chop Shop function which would allow me to automatically chop a loop sample in 2, 4, 8 or 12 equal parts and assign them to pads automatically... It would allow me to save about half an hour to 1 hour every time I start a new instrumental... This would be so awesome for me. I pray.

im so over chop shop im way quicker in sound forge anyways...

you guys dont think they can put at least a crude looking wveform on the screen? just to see the main peaks? idk

I don't understand your answer to my post. It seems you're trying to make fun of me... But I don't care.
And I don't understand why you say I have bought the wrong MPC man:
- I would have loved to buy me an MPC 1000 if I had enough money (I can open a PayPal account if you want to give me some some of yours as it does not seem to be an issue for you).
- The MPC 1000 is exactly as the MPC 500 regarding the Chop Shop... It does not provide this feature with an official OS and therefore a specific JJ OS had to be developed and I do not see why it could not be done on the MPC 500 (and don't reply that there is no graphic screen... If you want to reply that, please re-read my post... The function I request does not require a graphic screen)...

Sorry for being a bit ruede, but I hate when some smart-a** come to me and try to explain that I bought the wrong MPC... It make me feel like if I was in a little cheap car and some rich boy with a Ferrari came to me and said "you bought the wrong car" (WTF, I would have loved to buy me a Ferrari... But I could not and try to make the most of my cheap car... That's all).

a) nope i'm not the rich boy, i got the same reasons to be a 500 user as you. i'd love to have the 2500 or yes, a 1000 with JJ then... but anywho, maybe someday... what about this car reference, do you feel inferior driving a small car?

b) people are asking if this thing can chop automatically since there is a board for it... that's all. i somehow doubt akai can / is able to provide this function, that's why i wrote 'realistic' suggestions initially.

c) i didn't know the 1000 doesn't have the chop function without JJ, interesting.

ElGrego is right, automatic chop shop, with EQUAL PARTS, it's just about maths for the MPC, no doubt it can do that !

there are 2 features in particular which would push the 500 into its own comfortable space:

QLINK control over WHOLE TRACK, not SINGLE PAD
numerical chop with AUDIBLE SCRUB when changing SLICE START/END POINT

fritzolin, I'm not particularly easily offended dude.
But I do not appreciate when someone tries to be a smart-a$$ using false hypothesis such as "people are asking if this thing can chop automatically since there is a board for it... that's all. i somehow doubt akai can / is able to provide this function, that's why i wrote 'realistic' suggestions initially"... My point is only that you should not try to tell lessons to people when you do not know what you're talking about. It is surely possible to implement the function that I describe in my post on the MPC 500 (I am almost 100% sure of that) and, for me, it is almost the only update which would be interesting... please, respect this.
I don't understand the point of making a topic in which you ask others to contribute if you only want them to propose stuffs which please yourself man . Try to understand that an OS update could provide new features for everyone and not only for you, that's the only thing I wanted to say.

hell... do i sound like i wanna tell lessons to you? hereby i declare that i respect and accept your belief that akai can do this and i accept your refreshing contribution to this here thread – the chop chop function for the mpc 500. i do not want to exclude anything or anybody from this thread, i do not want to hurt anyones feelings ever again by being such a preachy, arrogant smartass knowitall. may all our wildest dreams come true. god bless you, amen

Hello all, one nice feature would be :

MPC's CF card always visible via usb by the computer, not only under USB menu.

I don't want any new features (I bought it knowing exactly what it did), just a bug free machine - that is AKAI's responsibility. For new features we gotta rely on JJ, but that is looking unlikely.

werd.. bug-free is minimum... can't explain why but i somehow trust they'll at least try to deliver that soon.
