Best DAW For Low Price =)

Hey guys I been some research, question asking and calling companies about their DAWs because I was trying to find a DAW that is low in price and has great features that we all need.

Well it come down to Cubase Essential 4. Works with the latest Mac OS and works with XP & Vista. It offers about every important feature any other $300 or $400 dollar DAW would and its only $149.99

I just wanted to share this info incase anybody else was looking for a DAW but didnt want to spend hundreds for it.

As for the DAW, I bought Logic Express 8 not long ago (well, being a Mac-head). And I just love it! It has some issues, but Apple seem to be fixing them (I've updated it once already). And it also has a damn huge manual (over 1000 pages), which I am reading at the moment. Built-in instruments and effects are just amazing, and midi-sequencing and editing features are overwhelming. Apart from MPC and MicroKorg it was the best investment into my bedroom studio so far

Yeah I got a friend with Logic.

I got a MPC and MicroKORG also.

Yeah I have heard that Reaper is a solid DAW... But from looking through the User Guide it seems likes its missing one big thing that is important to me and thats synchronization.

If it can sync with my MPC let me know.

I have always been a fan of Cubase and found it to be solid and straight forward compared to other DAWs. The timestretching sucks though so it would be nice if they could improve that aspect.

I have learnt how to use many sequencers over the years, but they are so deep now that I have no intentions to learn any new ones. Sometimes it is nice to just stick to what you know.

Most established DAWs like Cubase and Logic share features. The difference is in tiny details, actually.

I'd say that Ableton Live in its recent incarnation (version 7) is also very, very good. But, the downside is that its price also went up and it's like 1K USD for the boxed suite version. But I am sure it's worth it.

If it can sync with my MPC let me know.

i celebrated when MTC was introduced half a year back

Nym, can Reaper be synced to MPC as a slave? Cause I've tried it with both Logic and Cubase and they just won't let 'em to be enslaved to MPC

Yeah when I called Steinberg, I asked if I could make Cubase slave and MPC master the support opperator said that it is not possible. =( Bummer...

Would be cool though if it could be done with Reaper. =)
Where can a purchase Reaper??? Is it only downloadable or can I find it in a box?

I use MPC as master, reaper as slave via MTC every time.

the demo is uncrippled and you can save. there's no time limit or other functional limitation.

it also comes in a 3.2 mb installer. takes about 10-15 mb on your machine.

Nym, could you please reveal how do you sync MPC 500 via MTC when it is only able to send MIDI Clock sync signal? MTC and MIDI Clock aren't the same, are they?

Re Reaper: tried it out, looks cool but my old powerbook is too slow to handle it ((( still, I don't see how it could be slaved to MPC via MTC. Have to read its manual first, then.
