MPC 500 replaced by BEAT THANG

actualllllllllly, I think I found the one cat on ebay that didn't gouge on shipping...it was $15. I mean, $45.

I met up with a friend tonight and apparently he has one of those stands... He doesn't need it; it gets in his way.

If only the 500 had been better made. that would be my best option.

I was looking at the yamaha su-10. a 500 kills that... but if its buggy...

it has been 2 years since i got my 500, the 1.31 os is stable actually... i had just an issue with a program file: it wasn't able to play some sample (16 bit, 44100, sample name was ok, not a sample problem i mean) of the D bank.
it happened just once, and i play the unit almost everyday...
workflow is a nightmare until you get used; since i am i can do no matter what as fast as i need it to be done, and i have so much fun with that i barely open live or reason/record or even recycle to start a song.
you just need to learn every shortcut and it's fine...
not having a screen means you have to remember what you played, imagine what you are gonna make and listen carefully at what you played. that's lot of fun...
i play my 500 on bed and on the couch: just the unit on my legs and the headphones. i so much love the 500...
i would change it for another model just for the 4 more pads and to get more outs (mix and master a 500 song means you have to record every track one by one, booooooring).
i must confess this 500 supporting post came by one who never had other mpc but that hehe ^^'
so maybe my opinion isn't really worthy

I sort of feel like this is the same effect using a qy100 has for me. You just end up memorizing what to do, and being more intentional. It's more about what you hear.

So far no takers for the XL as of yet.
