MPC500 error crashing

I've had the same prob wax808, except I believe it was just the ALL SEQ & SONG files in each folder. The same ones that would be missing sequences when I'd try and load them and receive that CPU Addr (read) PC (883e24de) error. I had to copy whatever I could to my PC, then format the card.

You people need to start telling about your setup. 128MB ram? What CF card? Do you use MPC or card reader with your PC? Did you format in the MPC? etc.

Yeah it wasn't really that big of a deal at the time, but it freaks me out a bit and I would be pissed if I ever lost work over it.

I would probably hang on to it still, I am confident that a firmware upgrade will fix this. I will most likely still get a 500 when I can afford one.

I was at GC last night and talked them out of a perfect condition Blue MPC1000 for $500, and it has the Akai ram in it. Of course I had to buy an SP404 also for them to do this, but I think it will be worth it.

I hate to send the 500 back, but I don't have much time to do so.

I have this problem to, and I too use a 'fast' 2GB card.

I've emailed Akai and they claim it has to do with the type of CF cards we use (80x and Extreme type cards).

this OS has just been given me too many problems... so i uninstalled 1.13 & re-installed 1.12 & so far it has been stable, in terms of not crashing & my samples not dissapering...

the probleme dont change with the 3 different os

but i notice that , when u save all sequence and song in the internal memory
i dont make error when u load it

AKAI MUST SOLVE THIS BUG because it cause a lot of trouble, when u work 1 week on MPc and lost everything like this.

Just got this fault and is no annoying!! So BUMP!

I had the same problem, loading my all songs file made my mpc500 crash. I think Beshop is right. I never had a problem with loading an all songs and sequence file untill I started to save my all songs files to the CF card instead of the internal memory.

For other type of corrupted files on the 500; when the 500 is saving, don't press any button, especially not the 'do it' or the 'cancel' button. Doing that while saving makes the file corrupted you are saving.

I had this problem and I THINK - key word is think- it was due to me using one of the newer CF cards intended to be used with the high end Digital SLR cameras. The newer CF cards they have come out with are lightening fast so they can keep up with the transfer rate of the camera placing the image file on the card. If you know anything about those cameras, you can basically press the shutter button as fast as you want and it takes a new pic with every press of the button. The MPC doesn't save things anywhere near that fast.

I was using an "8" speed card which is the minimum for these cameras. As soon as I switched it out to an older slower card with less memory capacity the problem stopped.

It may be worth while for you guys to give that a shot. I found some of these older cards at a pharmacy in my area for under $5 brand new.
