I guess knowing both would be ideal:) however for now knowing the store date would be just fine ...

i dunno about the wave editing. i mean, there are still "play loop" and "play from" notes above the top row of pads, so ... there must be some functionality, right?
good point about the 12 pads though. if i had money to burn i could see using this to do beats on the bus and then dropping them into a 1k, 2.5k with the additional outs, SPDIF, etc, and working from there.
still, the display. wtf?

Unless you're in HS, then you get a pass.

CPU already has one.
Just keep hitting him with the ?'s
Hopefully he answers them when he gets the time.

I know bro. Just toying w/ dude.
We just roast mf'rs who ride the bus around here.
Especially when they rock aluminum & glass jools...
...like they got paper.
Truth be told, I want trains everywhere. The German magnetic ones that go 200MPH with no friction.

But if anyone ends up paying $1299 for a MPC-500, then them folks must have saw you coming and prep'd the vaseline before hand. Because you (no reflection on you) my friend have just gotten f**ked.
for real you can get a 2k, 2kxl, 3K, 1k, 60, and Sp for less than that.
Where the hell can you get a 3k and an SP for less than $799? Call me lame, but I'd take this machine over the 2000 any day.
nah i meant the MSRP not what it'll actually go for. And i wouldn't...

Just so you all know in case you missed it, I posted this earlier - http://www.skratchworx.com/news/comments.php4?id=535
And the bigger hi res picture is here - http://www.skratchworx.com/images/akai/mpc500.jpg - I don't think this is on the Akai Pro site just yet.
So I'm new to all this MPC and sampling lark but want to move skratchworx into covering this area. I'm getting the impression that you guys aren't exactly in love with the new 500. Is this because you're all die hard owners of bigger and better MPCs?
What's right and wrong with the new 500?

nothin wrong really except the price.
a lot of people just wished to have seen something new from akai, but this is kind of predictable.
we're all watching the akai soap opera.

Owning one would be dope. but $800 does not justify such a rudimentary sampler. Technology has not only caught up with it, but has lapped it 3 times and shows no sign of stopping to take a breathe anytime soon
