People talk as if this item was made to be a stand alone! the center of there studio...
The sole purpose of this machine was to make a product that caters to the producer who is always on the road. Make beats whereever and whenever. Than load it up in the studio when u arrive

I think many people will buy this as a rock solid live midi sequencer. 48 tracks is still alot. It is still a great drum machine. Not many drum machines that are made this day that don't cost $999 have multiple outs. I've ordered one even though I have a 1000. I want another drum machine...but don't want another 1000 and don't want to spend for the 2500. This will be perfect.

I can see it now people bringing the 500 to the digging spots and record stores with the managers chasing them around the store. ha, ha, ha. And kids banging on shit in classrooms, lunch breaks, in the parks, club nights improvsation beats what is the world coming to? ha, ha,

Why would an MPC 1000 user want a MPC 500?

Portability. The 1k isnt THAT small. and its heavy....

Now after two years or so....I guess 1000 users will flip the script and say that the 1000 is for studio use and the MPC 500 is for the road

well, with a few new JJ OS upgrades, the 1k will be king mpc of 2008!

He he. I think it's designed for thieves. A portable 800 $ young-starter-mpc toy. Is going to be the 2008 most robbed item all around the world.

Don't think kids will spend such money in that. But if akai drops the price to about 300 400 it can be probably the most **** successfull deal they've done in years. Used for pros to carry their full work in their pocket, and for newbies to start feeling the mpc swing power (just recording, overdubbing, etc)

I use my 1000 for all my sample based stuff... and will use the 500 for on the go and for my more synthesizer based stuff. I like to have a few workstations set-up at a time.

Color those bad boys in bright colors and even girls will start buying them with the right endorsements some little hot thang with headphones and white, yellow, baby blue 500 strap on the side.

Kids will eat it up though once the price come down and little mickey tell mommy what he wants.

They will be bangin pads on the school bus yall in back of the station wagon with rugrats, ha, ha.

It`s all good though the video rush on youtube and the Christmas season newbies will come to the new thread this December again.
