My MPC 500 = Pwned

Hmmm the word "my" was being used in third person the third person being "Akai" I don't own a 4000. I did own a 2000 but gave it to my partner and picked up a 2000xl. I then sold the XL to get a 4000 but when it was first released it was too buggy. I just gave my nephew a RM1x and a Yamaha A5000. I now own a SP12 as a drum machine and will be getting 500. I would never disrespect anothers choice of equipment. I can get whatever I want but I like the 500 so I will be getting one. See I agree with you. I even agree that what ever you make is better than mine. Why should I argue as long as I sell.

My bad too. I think the MPC 500 is the truth with nothing to compare to it but a used MPC 1000. Cosmic everything you said rang true.Right now I am going too try to get stuff ready for my little cuz. Here is his my space page. He could use the support.

I love my 500. Its my first MPC or anything in that type of production stuff. Little bit of a learning curve but Im cool with it. Maybe thinking of getting a 1000 but Ive read that the pads are all jacked up, and the 2500 is just up there in $$$$. But I will buy another MPC no doubt. The fact that I can take it anywhere without having to plug in is real cool. Just my 2 cents.

Why do people hate the effects in the MPC's? I use em all the time.. The reverb sounds like reverb...the delay delays. Eq, flanger, bit distortion.. all that stuff, it works for me.
But about the 500 itself, it's too pricey for a $600 price tag. You can get a used 1000 for the same price. As for as portability, I've never had the urge to make a beat while on the toilet. I don't ride the bus, and i can't make a beat while driving. Storage wise, it's dope, but the screen needs to be bigger. At least the size of the MPC2000, but still, the price is crazy high. $600 can buy you a laptop that you can run Guru on, as well as watch DVD's, surf the internet, edit pictures etc. If you really need portability, SP-404's can do the same thing, got more effects and have internal mics. The sequencer ain't as deep, but it costs a third of the price.

I just saw the 500 on Nova Musik's website, and it's now selling for $499 (which is a fair price... I've been saying that it should've been sold for that much right from the beginning).

For anyone looking to buy one brand new, you can't beat that price.
Print out the add, bring it to Guitar Center (if you live in the US), and have them match the price to exactly $499. They have to add tax to the sale. So they will sell it for less, add the tax and make the total $499.

Depending on your situation, it may be easier to go to GC if you live fairly close to one (this way you can exchange or return it if something's wrong with it, or if you'd rather buy something else if you don't like it).

Started 8 months ago with an MPC 500. Really loved that machine. I learned how to make beats and how to work with the MPC. I mean, for the beginning beat creator, this is perfect.

After a few months I started to feel being limited with the 500. So I sold it and purchased a second hands MPC 1000, totally expanded. Got me some JJ OS, and now I'm unstoppable. Now my workflow is so much faster, especially when it comes to chopping. Plus this one is still portable as well. I traveled almost through the whole country with my MPC 500, and I'm still travelling to studio and producers and artist all over Holland. With the 1k.
Plus now I have a real workstation that gives me the feeling that I have a very strong and solid base for my set up.

Don't get me wrong, a MPC 500 is what it is: a small MPC.
It keeps you going for a while, especially the starting beatmakers,
but after a while you need, and you definitely want more.
