Oh yeah, I dig synth beats, in fact I dig all music. I used to make strictly synth beats back in the day. Mostly lounge type pieces. I went back to sampling records as a testament against all these wack synth producers because they were **** up my house called Hip Hop, they call it hiphop now. Ill-Green is deep, slowly I'm taking yall down the fanthoms

Got my MPC500 about 6 weeks ago. Got it to get away from the computer for making beats. So far I'm really enjoying the workflow of this little unit. Just uploaded a little compilation of my beats I have been collecting on my 500 for the past few weeks.
I've been limiting myself to srictly using sounds I sampled myself and I've been really enjoying to build my drums, basses ,etc. from vinyl. Makes you appreciate every sound even more!
I recorded all beats first to cassette tape in one passage, and then I recorded the tape into Reaper and uploaded the mp3 to soundcloud. Didn't want to bother mixing as I was quite satisfied with the results I could get directly from within the MPC. I lost track of which beats I already recorded on tape so I accidently have two doubles. I didn't really arrange anything on the MPC and did some live track muting and pad hitting while recording. So excuse any irregularities... and I noticed the tape I used was not the newest so there are a bunch of unwanted tape effects on there ( best copy protection imaginable...

testing a new beat by throwing afura's acappella off a 12 inch on top of the beat. there is a slight chorus effect on the whole thing cause I had the mpc connected to my dj mixer and I used the 500 to record what came out off the mixer back into the mpc.

Originally I got the MPC500 to get away from sitting too much infront of the computer. After a while of straight sampling I thought I should test out the midi capabilites of this thing. For this beat I did all the sequencing with the MPC with a midi keyboard connected controlling several VSTs inside Reaper without syncing or anything. After I was done recording my tracks I recorded the midi information that triggered all sounds into Reaper with the use of track mutes to do some live arranging. Sometimes I hit the track mutes too soon and it cut off the pitch bend.
I have to say that I really love the workflow the MPC500 gives me when hitting out quick ideas. It's so much more intuitive. And 16 midi tracks is plenty for my midi needs!
This beat is nothing special as it's not mixed or anything! Just wanted to show how well the MPC500 handles midi!

Haha! Thanks! When adding leads I sometimes lose it and spend hours just jamming...
