Anybody Going To Get The MPC 500

The MPC 500 is reported to have pad sensors like the previous model MPCs...not like the 1000 with individual sensors...which are the worst ever on any MPC.

i think it looks really fine and cute as it could be a good beginner mpc
to convince kids to get a "full" mpc, in my opinion the badest thing is the little display, and the workflow has to be tested, ext power wallwart, not the best on stage... for the price i really prefere a 1000!!! as it makes much more sense with jj s os... we ve to wait the bugs of the 500 and check the workflow, then the price dropping, 300-400 seems to be ok,
maybe then, there comes out the mpc 05.....

As far as waiting for the bugs to get fixed for the MPC 500?? Isn't what the 1000s users should have done before giving $30 for a JJ OS that has problems already Just a thought.....

But yeah...I would spend up to $600 for one of these..and will..look at the cute little baby...get in my belly. I am getting this so my MPC 2500 will have a Mini-me Hell...I might have these customized by Forat and actually have Mini-me painted on it

The 1000 is a full fledged workstation... just as powerful as the 2500 and 3000 IMHO.

Im not a begginer by any stretch of imagination. I use a 1k. If anyone here cant make something interesting on that machine i suggest they get a new job/hobby.
Whatever higher spec bits of gear can do... being able to sample, sequence, resample, throw stuff between itself and a computer etc to the degree the 1k can is more than enough to work with...IF you have ideas that is....

besides dont the 2500 have the same guts as the 1k just a couple extra knobs/sliders, bigger pads, eight extra outs and a tilt screen... i think thats 2g's well spent

if i had $2,000 i would use $1000 for the 1K $100 for a decent record player and the rest on vinyl. I'm sure there's lots of people who agree with me on this.

While I like the 2500...and I'm sure some professionals feel the 8 outs is necessary... I couldn't upgrade from the 1000 to the 2500. It just didn't offer enough that I would use. However, if you are making money off of this stuff and whacking out beats like a factory...then I'd get the 2500...it is just more comfortable. For the average Joe...the 1000 is a very good machine.

If the price goes down i'll buy it. But for those who buy it I hope u enjoy it and def drop some feed on it.

The machine isn't gonna suck. The only excuse is the price range. I changed my mind. Now, I think it would be a nice addition to my portable setup.

I hate to point out the obvious...but you only bought the 1000 because 1)You didn't have the funds to spend on the 2500 2) or the 2500 wasn't available when you purchased the 1000.

True...the MPC 2500 and the 1000 are pretty much the same..with the exception that the 2500 is a real MPC and the 1000 is a cheaper imitation. If I want a cheap imitation, I will go buy an MPC 500.

Now, you will get plenty milage out of that 1000..I think. No need for another MPC perhaps. But there is not one single reason why I would give up an MPC 2000XL/2500/3000 in order to get a 1000.....yuk

Here I go again with my best Mike Jones impression........but I will not respond to anymore 1000 threads (...maybe)...this is the MPC 500 thread. Who has picked up one yet?

So in comparison (1k), what does 500 lacks (at least on paper)?

I want one !!!

You can visit the Akai website to get the specs/features of the MPC 500..it does have a reduced track count.

I am headed to GC tomorrow morning to see if they have any left. If not, I will just place my name on the back order list.
