Yeah there were a lot of people complaining about the 500 back in 06, lol.
There were a lot of people complaining about the 1000 in '03!
In fact there was so much complaining about the 500 that I was surprised to find that it was basically a mini 2000xl!
There are some things a 2kxl can do that a 500 can't, and vice versa.
So many people hated on it, but really it's a good sampler.

Yeah, the OP obviously look at the 500 and began talking out his neck. He never used it but only a 1000.

The 500 was supposed to be a limited entry sampler, but real heads know whats under the hood.

The 500 was my first piece of hardware. This is the instrument on which I really learned how to make beats. For such a small mpc it doesn't have that many limitations then it's size might suggest.

Besides for hardcore mpc beatmakers I think it's also a practical option for running a small and mobile setup in combination with other hardware or a in a dj environment. Two decks and a 500 or a few keyboards and synths with the mpc are some nice combo's I've both seen on stage. I think it maybe has a broader audience than the 2500 that probably only be bought by people who are dedicated beatmakers, and use it as their primary instrument.

Like I said many times, this sampler changed my life and how I make music.I was a loyal SU700 customer that used to sample myself playing each aspect of music which was cool but the music sounded like keyboard music. Now I`m fully into sampling and chopping and I don`t even want to play the keyboards anymore.LOL

Eventually I will sample my own original playing and mesh it with the chopping.

Not to suggest that you can`t chop on the SU700,but the timing and execution didn`t work for me.The sequencer locks things up so well on the 500.Just adjust the BPM,and tweak stuff to you like your results.

I love how you can do so many features at one time.Once you know where the features are,you are GOOD!

I was told that thats for diagnostics and service. Repairman hooks it up to his PC and can see where the root of the problem is without opening it up.

I'm sure the OS can be altered there too, if someone can read code.
