MPC 500 OS WISH LIST

* Some form of Chop Shop. Possibly a manual chop shop where you could set up to 12 start/end points for the same sample that could be accessed via the 12 levels button.

* Track Volume

* Better pad Sensitivity

* Increased Master Output

* Ability to dismount from computer without physical USB cable removal

* Ability to edit slider data in sequence edit (pitch, volume, filter)

* Recordable + MIDI controllable track mutes

* Track pad mutes

* Ability to use Trim Mode without stopping sequence playback

* Ability to use Record Mode without stopping sequence playback

* Ability to increase and decrease data in sequence edit (etc. go from 5% on step one 95% on step three, then it would automaticly create a data ramp in between)

* Ability to save Filter Sets in a sequence

* Filter Envelope

* Ability to trigger sample from a MIDI note

* Ability to adjust entire Program volume

* 1/64 note Time Correction in sequencer + triplets

* Multi Timbral Capacity (each MPC track can respond to MIDI messages on seperate MIDI channels from an outboard sequencer)

* Display of specific Track Numbers (instead of 'M') on the Track Mute screen

* Expand assignable pad banks via Shift + pad bank buttons. IE: Shift + A, B, C, D = E, F, G, H.

* Ability to scroll or skip through sample previews from CF card via wheel or forward and back buttons.

* Ability to link 500 to PC and use PC screen for additional programmability such as sample pad assignments, chop shop, wave form editing, etc. Or a companion software for PC that can manipulate these setting by accessing the saved files on the CF card.

* Ability to use, or enable for use in settings, the Q-Link slider for data input in highlighted areas in addition to the scroll wheel. IE: Volumes, sequence numbers, sample edit parameters, etc.

* Ability to use "save all to Autoload" as workspace area without Data loss.

* Ability to have folders and files on CF card and samples in memory consistently displayed alphabeticly.

* Renaming letter/ number selection screen that scrolls the same direction each time. IE: A-Z, then numbers then symbols Left to right every time instead of randomly being reversed to symbols then numbers then Z-A from left to right.

* Drivers to format and access external HDD through USB port.

* 1/64 note Time Correction in sequencer + triplets

* Multi Timbrel Capacity (each MPC track can respond to MIDI messages on separate MIDI channels from an outboard sequencer)

* Display of specific Track Numbers (instead of 'M') on the Track Mute screen

* Expand assignable pad banks via Shift + pad bank buttons. (EX: Shift + A, B, C, D = E, F, G, H)

* Ability to fast forward or rewind previewing samples on CF card via wheel or forward and back buttons for previewing large samples.

* Ability to enable the use of the Q-Link slider for scrolling values in highlighted display areas in addition to the scroll wheel.

* Ability to use "save all to Autoload" as workspace save area without Data loss.

* Ability to have folders and files on CF card and samples in memory consistently displayed alphabetically. (EX: A-Z every time instead of periodically J-Z then A-I) Possibly via a FAT32 sort function/utility?

* Renaming letter/ number selection screen that scrolls the same direction each time. (IE: A-Z then 0-9 Left to right every time instead of periodically being reversed to 0-9 then Z-A left to right.)

(Reworded and removed a few things. @ noramoss, I have also thought about being able to use MP3 files like waves. It would expand the capacity of the CF card and the memory. But I think that would have showed up on the bigger models by now if they had any intention on doing that.)

I'm quite happy with my 500 for now. The USB dismount would be really good, though.

What's the deal with the chop-shop thing? I've had this sampler for about 5 days and have already got a decent chopping flow down...

As a 500 (ex-1000) owner I do miss the ability to have the unit automatically chop up samples and assign them over the pads.

This is however - probably the only down side in going from a 1000 to a 500.

Co-sign.

I've been chopping on the 500 for a year and a half and if they added chop shop I would very rarely use it. I would rather they focus their attention to other things.
I mean, considering how they try to keep the 500 a second-rate MPC (at least as far as features go) and how small the screen is, what would we really be getting?

I only browsed through this thread, but I didn't see ASDR mentioned. I think this would be easy and a good upgrade. We have the A and D, but sustain and release would be great for shaping samples.

And (as far as I know) this isn't available on the other MPCs, but 12 leveling something without changing it's tempo would be amazing. Doing it manually takes just enough time to make me forget how I wanted to use it. I would be waaayyy more excited for this than the chop shop/wave display idea.

It would be really cool if you in a function (say filter cut) could say "map to CC xxx" midi control. So you could master this yourself.

Yeah and the mixer, it's a must!!

co-sign on the 12-levels with consistant tempo, and the USB removal without physical dissconnection.

if i could ask a favor from someone who has knowledge of alotta MPC's (or at least the 1000).....could someone repost this list with a simple YES or NO after each question, regarding whether or not these features exist on an MPC1000 (the one the 500 seems to be in most competition with).

for example.

*....Chop Shop-YES (because 1000 has chop shop)

if anyone's got the knowledge and time

thanks

I would really like the 500 to be the center piece in my set up and not rely on a mixer. Less equipment in my studio, the better. An audio-thru feature, that can be accessed at anytime, not just in Record mode.

Trim section needs stability. Many times when I have digits prepared in Start, I go to End to adjust and if I go under the number, the Start point gets messed up and I have to reset it. Also, it would be nice if the cursor can touch every digit instead of every other digit. Then chopping will speed up.

Ill-green, maybe if you or somebody else feels like it we could combine both of the feature request threads into a new one where the thread starter can keep all the requests updated into the first post to make it easier for Akai employees to see and read without having to muddle through the entire post. I dont think I've seen proppa around for awhile.

Hmmm...Thats something only the mods has power over. You're talking about like a locked sticky thread? Because if I make a topic with one lone post, that'll sink to two pages away in about a week and it might be forgotten.

We just need one good clean thread so the mods can see that its worthy and possibly ''Stick it''. But these threads can be used as a brainstorm until someone gives the right direction.
