On my MPC500 (OS 1.31) changing "track type" between "MIDI" and "DRUM" doesn`t make any difference. I got my MIDI-Keyboard (Oxygen8) connected to MIDI-IN and my Analog Synth runs on MIDI-Channel 16. When I record MIDI Notes on a track, the Sounds in the internal Sampler (Pad-Sounds) of the MPC500 always get triggered, too. I didn`t found no way to prevent this.

Just selection of the MIDI channel prevent that notes, which are meant to trigger the samples on the pads from triggering sounds on my synth.

Does anyone has this problem, too?

White Noise Bug:

In a few occasions in the last days, after starting the MPC 500, suddelnly it would stop playback and loud continuing "White Noise" would be on the Phone-Jack. The Display would stay normal, as seem to be alot of other functions. Saving would not be possible. After restart everything acts normal again. This is almost dangerous, when using headphones. Don`t know if it`s a software or hardware problem. I bought the MPC recenty as used on ebay...

After being on for over 30 minutes, my MPC500 consistently freezes while playing a sequence. The green play button light is on, the sequence may or may not play, but nothing works to change the state it is in.

NOT A BUG.
Changing track type merely changes whether events are shown as midi notes (MIDI) or pad designations (DRUMS) in MODE>STEP EDIT. Every pad has an associated midi note (regardless of whether you are using pads or an external keyboard) and so if you record a sequence (with pads or keyboard), then go to MODE>STEP EDIT, you will see either midi notes or pad designations depending on your track type setting. Flip the track type then see that the event type has changed.
To turn off triggering internal sounds go to MODE>MIDI/SYNC>PAD TO SAMPLER>OFF.
TRACK>PARAMS>MIDI CHANNEL only affects your output to an external module.
By the way, re pad/midi note associations, there are factory defaults, but you can change the defaults (in MODE>MIDI/SYNC) or you can re-assign them per program in MODE>PROGRAM>NOTE ASSIGN.

Everytime I try to output MIDI or use the MIDI "handshake" setup it starts playing back the song weird then my keyboard reads "MIDI communication error" I've tried using other keyboards and it does the same thing. Any ideas??

usinTRACK>PARAMS>MIDI CHANNEL only affects your output to an external module.

I wish it could be effective also on the MIDI IN.

Now I can't play by pads a pgm loaded with chops on track 1 and have a friend to play the vdrums to midi trigger track 2 set to channel 10.

the vdrums play whatever pgm is associated to the selected track... :(

Only alternative it's to use one and only PGM with all the sample used in the track.

When I make a song out of some sequences and I assign the song to a new sequence sometimes it plays only one sequence and then it stops to play ... I've worked now 3 hours on a beat and I can't record cause it stops everytime -.- I try to use less samples but it won't work =/ Has somebody the answer for this problem ?

So what is the verdict on this ? Do I upgrade to OS 1.31 from 1.13 or not?
Sounds like its not worth the hassle

id say do it. pre 1.31 are worse, but thats like going from a pinto to a escort when you need a f150 pickup.
