I'm assuming yes, but there's no mention in the manual and i dont want to fry my 500. Anyone know for sure?

That's basic computer knowledge, don't remove while it's saving/writing data or
you stand a big chance on losing that data, that's all.
CF card isn't going to fry anything, it's so little voltage it's ridiculous. You worry too much..
Save your worries for something bigger.

thats a given, just wanted to be sure the mpc would be able to handle it
