I made a program with each instrument as one sample (i use the 12-range tone thing)
Then I put it in a sequence as each instrument in a seperate track
Everything was going fine until I added the drums
One sample I have goes on for 2 bars, and when the drums are in, it gets cut off after the first bar. I have no idea why. Its on poly voice overlap so its not like I'm hitting a pad that cuts it off. And before I added the drums, it would play all the way through. But if I try to add drums now the sample just gets cut off after 1 bar

I wish I could give better advice, but -

the same thing has happened to me a few times, and it seems like the 500 can't handle too many sounds and we have to find work arounds. I usually resample a track that is made up of individual sounds being played back (bassline, drums) to make it one sample.

Mute groups aren't the problem, right?

yeah mute groups are all off..
how do you resample something? ive never done that
and i dont know if thats the problem because i only have five tracks:

melody
bass
guitar
synth
trumpet
drums

and the only ones that had anything on it were the melody and synth. and then after 1 bar the drums would cut off the melody. so maybe you're right about the problem but if you're right then idk what to do. i don't know how to sample two sounds together. any more advice?

Hmmm, well if it was what I thought it was, that's only when I have a bunch of samples on top of each other. But it could still be that.

To resample go to Mode-Record and set the mode from 'Rec In' to 'Main'. Now the 500 will record whatever the 500 is playing. So you could make a bassline in 12 lev mode and resample it and now it's one sample, etc...

Turn all of your sounds to monophonic (mono) mode instead of polyphonic (poly) mode in program mode, and your problem will be solved.

oh okay thanks!
i'll try it tonight and get back at you
thanks for the help.
so what i'll do is turn everything to mono (on the voice overlap) and record my 12-level basslines as samples
cool, thanks. when i'm done i'll put it on youtube for you to hear, i think it will be good
i wish i knew people in person who have mpc's, though im only 15 so i guess its kind of not likely for kids in my school to be doing that
ok im getting off topic sorry ill write again later peace

lol, true. DrunkMonkey - do your homework while your mind is still absorbing. And I don't mean your schoolwork.

lol yeah some day i will start a topic about how to make a living off of this.. that way i will be able to put aside schoolwork and just focus on beatmaking with confidence that i'll be able to make enough money
im working with a couple of mc's right now from my school and new york who are my age but idk if its such a great accomplishment because my taste in music is more underground and old school, (aesop rock el-p c-rayz walz company flow hieroglyphics) and they are more like 50 cent and the game and such.. which is ok i guess
but i have to get back to my homework (schoolwork) then ill get back to my mpc

okay, so i tried to record the 12-level things into one sample but i only have 5 seconds of recording time so it didn't work. i deleted all of the things that came with it, but it didnt make a difference. hmm. i turned all the samples to mono. and still it's getting cut off. anyone have any ideas?

No, but you should get the RAM when you can so you don't run out of sample room. You're not even running MIDI keyboards, it's just a few MPC sounds?

The same thing happens to me every once in a while. For instance...trk 1 is piano sample trk 2 is kick and snare trk 3 hi hats trk 4 is shakers trk 5 is sub bass....everything is fine until the shakers and subs come in,when they do, my piano sample cuts out and comes back in a bar later and it keeps doing that. What i did is i just resampled the piano, kick snare and hi hat into one sample, placed that on a pad and played the subs and shakers over it. It works 4 me. I'd like to know the reason it cuts out though...maybe it really cant handle alot of sounds at once
