is it worth it ?

hi

i've used several mpc's (the favorite was mpc3000) and currently use a mpc2500.

however, i've got the question to trade my microkorg
with a quite new mpc500. what do you guys think ?

should i do the trade ?

I love my 500. No Wavform. No JJ. But it's a battery powered MPC and once you get the RAM it's a beast.

I used to have a Microkorg, and in my opinion - MPC 500 > Microkorg, but the microkorg might play better with your other MPCs than a 500

Unless you need the 500 to prop up your 2500 keep the MK.

It's not better than a 2500, but it's definitely cool to be able to make beats at the park or whatever. Even just moving the MPC around the house. Plus a 500 is worth more $ than a MicroKorg, right?

in sweden it's the same price. i don't know why but the MK is quite expensive when it comes to the used ones.

without a shadow of a doubt I would go for the mpc 500.

You won't appreciate how good it is to have a portable mpc until you've actually used one for a while....

It's hard to say, it is quite different equipment. I love the MicroKorg, and i love the MPC-500. It depends on what you want to do. Sampling or synth editing. BUT the MicroKorg is cheaper than the MPC, so...

Other than portability I couldn't see it being beneficial.

I use my MPC500 as a drum machine (I've got loads of vintage 808, linn drum etc sounds for it) and its sequencer as no-one really makes hardware sequencers, and who wants a modern drum machine thats only good for R&B - please excuse the random rant.....

Or, buy a Blofeld or Micron or even a Evolver, all of which a 100 imes better than the Korg !!!!!

Dont underestimate the MicroKorg! It can do nearly everything even FM if you twist it a bit, and the sine sync off is not to be found in any other synth (exept the ms-2000).
