This is years later since last post lol. Found I had the same problem but I DID find the answer!
1. Format your card if you can inside mpc.
if not it's cool, just get a card reader.
2. Access the card in windows
3. Hit windows start button and search for Disk management.
4. Inside that menu you should see CF cars listed. If it's anything other than a FAT file system then that's your problem. Fat 32 is too new for mpc.
5. Right click your card and format it again but this time before you start select the FAT file system which is known as a FAT16 system.
6. Eject your CF card safely.
7. Turn mpc off, take out batteries, RAM, and/or power supply.
8. Reinsert all that back together than reboot your mpc.
9. Card should read afterwards. If not reboot a couple more times and make sure you have current OS installed.
10. Now make some damn beats! =-D
