ok so i turned my 500 on last night and it worked fine for bout 30 mins then froze,,after it froze,i went to the akai site and got the new os,,and after trying about 5 or 6 times it finnaly found the new os,,after it installed,it did the same thing,,worked for a bit then froze..i reinstalled the os and same thing, froze again..i blew in the cf slot, nothing happened,i blew in the cards nothing happened,i emptied the cards re-formated,put just the bin file on it and it still had trouble reading, after 4 try's it finnaly took, but again after about 20 mins froze again...it plays the internal memory fine, but its having a hard time with the cards,,anybody else having this or is there anything else i should try???
i cant find the original os to re-install but i dont think thats the problem either..its been doing this for 2 days now and is getting super annoying..

Did you try to remove the memory upgrade and turn it on again? (that is if you have the memory upgrade)

Am gonna ask stupid questions but I am trying to help out :P

Did it get wet recently? Did it had some major tempature differences real fast after eachother? Did you try a card that was new? Did you unplug it while USB was still active? (they seem to hammer on it in the manual) Mine is working perfectly, if it is easy to open up I might be willing to take some pictures of the board for you so you have something to compare.

Hope this makes sense and helps :D

When you took everything out to paint it, was you gentle and lamb-like taking out the parts? Maybe during the time it took for the paint to dry, the uncovered parts were collecting dust and moisture. I'm just trying to help because after the paint job, this problem appeared.

i know what esd is,i make sure i ground myself everytime i mess with things...i think i know what the problem is,,i read up on "granite" and it can cary an electric charge and our table is made of granite that it was sitting on..im super careful with all my electronics as a matter of fact,im so carefull i try not to pick up anything unless its by the sides,,i try not to touch any metals at all except grounding myself first of course,,and i also do all my work on wood floors usually with shoes on..and i also do all my work when nobody's around(i hate people in general but thats besides the point) ,but if its just the card reader than pff i'll grab another..but i'd like to know before i do,,ya know..thanx again!!

ok so i went through my card and erased mad sh1t,,i think the problem lays somewhere in the card,,for example(a currupt sample or something)...
not sure but i put just a few samples on a re-formated card and it seemed to work for as long as i messed with it at least..
hopefully this cures my problem..
